PhD in Economics, National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM, Mexico, 1985). Dr. Foladori specializes in the fields of environment and development and health and development.

He has taught at UNAM, the Autonomous University of Chapingo, and the National School of Anthropology and History in Mexico; the Autonomous University of Honduras; the University of the Republic in Uruguay, and the Federal University of Paraná in Brazil. He has also worked as a research scholar at the Center for Science Policy and Outcomes at Columbia University, USA.

In addition to dozens of articles published in academic journals, his work includes Por una sustentabilidad alternativa (UITA, 2005); Controversias sobre sustentabilidad (Miguel Angel Porrúa, 2001); Limites do desenvolvimento sustentável (Unicamp, 2001), and Proletarios y campesinos (Universidad Veracruzana, 1986). He also coauthored ¿Sustentabilidad? Desacuerdos sobre el desarrollo sustentable (Trabajo y Capital, 2001).

He is affiliated to the Mexican National System of Researchers (SNI, Level III), the International Nanotechnology and Society Network (INSN), and is a founding member and executive director of the Latin American Nanotechnology and Society Network (ReLANS).
